Teacher Types: Certified Online and Domain
Administrators need to understand how the following teacher types are defined when copying courses. Based on your contract, you will only see the teacher types available to you in course copy menus. If you have any questions, please reach out to your program manager.
Certified Online Teachers (COT)
Certified Online Teachers (COT) are state-certified teachers trained extensively in online learning techniques. With COT support, students receive both personalized eLearning and classroom instruction from a subject-matter expert in certain courses.
COT Instructors can:
- engage, encourage, support, and instruct students in a virtual classroom.
- monitor student progress and adjust assigned lessons based on demonstrated mastery and individual needs.
- grade student assessments.
- provide individualized support via WebMail, chat, phone, and LiveLesson® interaction.
- act as the Teacher of Record.
Domain Teacher
Domain Teachers should be selected as the teacher type when using your own teachers for the instruction and support of a course. Domain teachers are responsible for all aspects of teaching, as defined by their school district or program. These responsibilities may include the following:
- grade student assessments.
- respond to student-initiated questions regarding the course or coursework.
- finalize the student’s grade based on completed coursework.
- monitor student progress and provide action plans if needed.
- act as the Teacher of Record.
- Additional responsibilities determined by the district administrator
