Symptoms
Student is unable to advance to the next activity or module in a course.
Resolution
There are several scenarios that will prevent a student from moving forward in a course and many can be corrected by the customer, but some need more review by support.
Issues that can be resolved by customer:
- The course is sequenced (Prescriptive or Sequential) and the student has not obtained a passing score on the current item. As soon as the content is passed, progression will resume.
- The course is sequenced (Prescriptive or Sequential) and the teacher changed the passing score after a student submission. The student score appears in green, but the student still cannot move forward. See When should passing scores in courses be changed?.
- For an assessment that is set to be completed before continuing, a student used all the attempts and has not obtained a passing score on the assessment.
- The content item due date has passed and the teacher does not allow late submissions. See Can I provide a grace period for assignments past the due date?.
- The course was customized incorrectly, where the Restrict visibility by mastery settings is marked for the wrong content. See Why don't my custom prescriptive courses sequence correctly?.
- For gradable custom activities that have a visible menu within them, ensure that these are set to Receives a passing score within the Navigation > Completion area of GradPoint 2.0. The other settings do not fully complete the activity in all use cases and is not recommended.
- The course is sequenced and the student was on a non-gradable activity and did not mark a non-gradable activity complete. Teachers can change gradebook settings to show all non-gradable content. In the following example, the student could not launch the Verbs lesson because the student did not enter the Parts of Speech lesson and mark it complete. See How to complete a practice lesson in GradPoint.
- If the student has completed the entire lesson within a [M] course and it is not completing properly using Save and Close or the Next arrow, then the teacher can force complete the non-gradable activity. Follow the steps in for that activity type within the KB GradPoint: Complete All Activities within a [M] Course.
