Pearson Connexus allows admins to create Activity Metadata fields where teachers, course authors, etc. can record and track additional information about activities and folders.
To do so:
- Open Domain Settings.
- Select Add on the Metadata for activities card.

- Provide the following:
- Name: This names the field behind-the-scenes and is not visible to the users.
- Title: This appears wherever the metadata appears for teachers or students.
- Input Type: This specifies how you want users to provide the metadata. Different input types allow you to provide different parameters for the content that can be entered in the field. In this example, Placeholder text (instructions on how to use the field) is allowed for a Plain text input type.
- Default: This defines the state or content that you want present in the field when users first encounter it and is recorded and treated as metadata if it isn't changed (for example, you may want a True/false field to record False unless changed by a user). Not available for the Rich Text input type.
- Levels: This indicates on which levels within the course folder structure you want the metadata displayed. Level one is the first level of folders under the course folder, level two impacts any folders or activities you add to those folders, and so forth. If you don't specify here, the field is shown at all levels.
- Item Type: This indicates whether the field should appear for only activities, only folders, or for all.
- Check Allow setting per group if you want the field to be set differently by group.
- Indicate whether you want to make the metadata value Visible to students when they select the item in the Activities tool (this is applicable only to folders).
- Indicate whether you want the metadata to be Editable in Teacher Clipboard. When this box is checked, the metadata field appears in the Clipboard when creating activities.
- Select Done.

The new metadata field now appears in Activity editor > Settings under the Metadata card. The content entered in these fields can be used to create searchable metadata tags.
