Settings by Group
You can adjust course behavior by group at the activity level. By selecting the group, certain settings can be selected. For example, the number of attempts can be adjusted for a group.
To adjust the number of attempts for a group:
- Within a course, select the Editor icon from the Header Menu.
- Select an assessment from the syllabus and then select Edit
.
- Within the Settings tab, select the group name or All groups from the Groups icon in the Header Menu to change the activity settings for the group set.
- Go to the Activity Settings card and select the dropdown menu for the desired number of attempts.
- Select Save.

Pacing by Group
Due dates that determine pacing can also be assigned by group. Note: Due dates are not available in Continuous courses.
To set due dates for a group:
- Within a course, select the Editor icon from the Header Menu.
- Select an activity or assessment from the syllabus and then select Edit
.
- Select the group name or All groups from the Groups icon in the Header Menu to change the activity settings for the group set.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Place a check mark in the box next to Due date and choose a date for the activity or assessment. You can also select to Allow late submissions and set a grace period for the assessment.
- Select Save
Hiding Content by Group
Certain content can be made available to a group of students by selecting the group and determining if that content item should be made visible. To hide content from a group:
- Within a course, select the Editor icon from the Header Menu.
- Select the Group Settings tab and select the content you wish to hide from the group. Selecting the Eye icon for the activity will hide the content (The icon will become red with a line through it once hidden from the group).
Content can also be restricted from viewing until a certain date by using Restrict visibility by date. Note: Restrict visibility by date is not available in Continuous courses.
To restrict content from viewing:
- Select the Editor icon from the Course Menu.
- Select an activity or assessment from the syllabus and then select Edit
.
- Select the group name or All groups from the Groups icon in the Header Menu to change the activity settings for the group set.
- Select the Settings tab.
- Locate the Visibility and access card and use the drop-down arrow to expand its content.
- Place a check next to Block student access until a specified date and set the date the activity should become visible to the group.
- Select Save.
