Overview: Some assessments will require manual grading. These will be indicated in the Takeoff by IXL platform for the teacher. Once graded, these grades will pass back to the Pearson Connexus platform.
Manually Grade Items in Takeoff by IXL
Review the actions that occur before teachers manually grade in IXL:
- The student accesses the assessment in Takeoff by IXL via Pearson Connexus.
- The student completes the assessment.
- The teacher sees an item to grade in the Pearson Connexus Gradebook.
- The teacher must navigate to Takeoff by IXL to grade part of the assessment.
To manually grade items in Takeoff by IXL:
- Navigate to the Pearson Connexus Gradebook.
- Scroll across to the assessment that needs to be graded.
- Select the activity name, which is a highlighted link.
- Selecting the activity link will open the assessment in Pearson Connexus.
Select the assessment name link.
This takes the teacher to IXL and shows an assessment preview.
- The teacher selects Membership at the bottom to open the IXL home page.
- In the toolbar at the top of the page, select Analytics.
- Select Quizzes.
- Select the grade level and assessment that you would like to grade.
- Select Grade Test.
- Grade the assessment item that requires manual grading by awarding the appropriate number of points to the student.
- You can view the assessments needing grading by question, as shown above, or by student.
- The Pearson Connexus Gradebook is automatically updated to reflect the score.
Extra Credit: To adjust the score for any manually graded item, make the adjustment in the Pearson Connexus course Gradebook.
