Some assessments include additional tools to help you answer certain questions. When enabled, these tools appear in your toolbar and you can select any of them to use them:

How to use Calculators in Pearson Connexus
- Select the Calculator button to open it.
- If you see a Mode drop-down menu, there are multiple types of calculators available. Choose the right one for you.
- To do calculations, select the numbers on the calculator with your mouse or select into the number field and use your keyboard.
- Select and drag the calculator header with your mouse to move it around.
- Select the cross-arrows icon in the header to open an actions toolbar that allows you to move the calculator by selecting arrows (single-pointer alternative).
- Select the X to close the calculator.

How to use the Protractor in Pearson Connexus
To use the protractor in Pearson Connexus:
- Select the Protractor button to show and hide the tool.
- Position the protractor where you want it.
- To move: Select the protractor with your mouse and drag it to where you want it. You can also use the arrows on your keyboard move the protractor.
- To rotate: Simultaneously, hold the shift key and select and drag the protractor with your mouse to rotate it. You can also hold shift and use the arrows on your keyboard to rotate the protractor.
- Select the cross-arrows icon to open an actions toolbar that allows you to move and rotate the protractor by selecting arrows (single-pointer alternative).

How to use Rulers in Pearson Connexus
- Select the Ruler button to show and hide the tool. If your teacher has made multiple rulers available, a menu appears where you can choose the one you need.
- Position the ruler where you want it.
- To move: Select the ruler with your mouse and drag it to where you want it. You can also use the arrows on your keyboard move the ruler.
- To rotate: Simultaneously, hold the shift key and select and drag the ruler with your mouse to rotate it. You can also hold shift and use the arrows on your keyboard to rotate the ruler.
- Select the cross-arrows icon to open an actions toolbar that allows you to move and rotate the ruler by selecting arrows (single-pointer alternative).

How to use Companion Material
Companion material is additional information, like worksheets or diagrams, that is available for use during the assessment.
- Select the files icon in the header to open Companion material, so you can review.
- Select and drag the header with your mouse to move the window around.
- Select the cross-arrows icon in the header to open an actions toolbar that allows you to move the window by selecting arrows (single-pointer alternative).
- Select the X icon to close the window.

How to use Assessment Description
If included, the assessment Description is provided before you start an assessment. It consists of instructions and other information that you see before you start the assessment.

If you need to review this information during the assessment, it is available.
- Select the information icon in the header to open the Description.
- Select and drag the header with your mouse to move the window around.
- Select the cross-arrows icon in the header to open an actions toolbar that allows you to move the window by selecting arrows (single-pointer alternative).
- Select the X to close the window.
