You can set up domain-level Grading Periods for courses in your domain to map to. To do so, you must define a school year for the domain, create Grading Periods within that school year, and then select the current year and Grading Period for the domain.
When new courses are created in that domain, they will automatically use these settings.
Create Grading Periods for your domain
- Open the side menu in Domain > Details.
- Select the Course Options tab, scroll to School Years and Grading Periods, and select Add.
- Use the top part of the window that appears to define your school year and the Grading Periods you to fit within that year. Provide:
- A Title for the school year.
- Start Date and End Date for the school year.
- Use the rest of the window to define your Grading Periods. Select Add for each period you want and provide:
- A Title
- Start Date
- End Date
- Select OK when you've added the Grading Periods you want.
- Select Save.
Enabling domain-level Grading Periods adds a dropdown menu to the toolbar of the following screens where you can filter by Grading Period:
- Teacher app:
- Student/Observer apps:
Choose current Grading Period for your domain
Once they're created, Admins must select the current Grading Period for the domain at the beginning of each new Grading Period, so Pearson Connexus courses can track data accurately.
- Open the side menu in Domain > Details.
- Select Edit Settings.
- Select the Course Options tab and scroll to School Years and Grading Periods.
- Open the Current Grading Period dropdown menu and select the desired period. All of the courses in your domain use this setting as their default, so you want to make sure you make the change at the beginning of each Grading Period and coordinate the change with schools where necessary.
- When a Grading Period is selected, you can indicate whether you want courses to Show the overall course score with the current grading-period score. The Course Score is calculated by rolling up all of the Grading Period scores in a course into one overall score.
- When this box is unchecked, students and teachers can see individual Grading Period scores, but never seen them combined as a Course Score.
- When this box is checked, students and teachers have access to both the Grading Period scores and a Course Score. With this option selected, Pearson Connexus shows editable Grading Period weights in the Teacher app Editor.
- Select Save.
